Investigation update: death in police custody (Portpatrick) - July 2023
The Police Investigations & Review Commissioner has been instructed by the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) to investigate the circumstances of the death of a 44-year-old male following an incident involving police in Portpatrick on 26 July 2023.
Once the investigation is concluded, a report on our findings will be submitted to the COPFS for consideration.
Update: a final report was issued to COPFS on 5 April 2024.
