PIRC/00292/19 looked at the handling of 14 complaints arising from the applicant’s arrest and her treatment in police custody.  The Review team found that ten of the complaints had not been handled to a reasonable standard and issued ten recommendations, a reconsideration direction and two learning points to address the shortcomings in their handling by Police Scotland. 

In PIRC/00239/20, three complaints arose following the applicant’s arrest for alleged threatening and abusive behaviour.  Although the Review team found two of the complaints had not been handled to a reasonable standard, no further action has been required of Police Scotland in this case. 

PIRC/00260/20 looked at one complaint that arose following the applicant reporting a company for fraud. The Review team found that Police Scotland handled the complaint to a reasonable standard and requested no further action. 

In PIRC/00269/20, three complaints were made following the applicant’s interaction with police officers in May 2020.  Although the Review team found Police Scotland handled the complaints to a reasonable standard, one learning point has been identified. 

In PIRC/00169/20, the complaint arose following reports of anti-social behaviour in the applicant’s community.  The complaint was found to be handled to a reasonable standard by Police Scotland and no further action has been requested. 

PIRC/00031/20 reviewed the handling of five complaints made to Police Scotland after the applicant was involved in a hit and run road traffic incident.  The Review team found three of the five complaints had not been handled to a reasonable standard and issued one recommendation and three learning points to Police Scotland. 

In PIRC/00093/20, four complaints arose following the applicant’s arrest.  The Review team made one recommendation to address shortcomings in the handling of one of the complaints by Police Scotland. 

PIRC/00374/19 looked at the handling of three complaints made after passports belonging to the applicant and his daughter were seized by the police.  While one complaint was found not handled to a reasonable standard, no further action has been requested. 

In PIRC/00411/18, six complaints were made after officers forced entry to the applicant’s property and subsequently arrested her.  The Review team has given a reconsideration direction, made two recommendations and identified a learning point for Police Scotland to address shortcomings in the handling of two of the complaints. 

PIRC/00327/20 reviewed the handling of three complaints made following the applicant’s interactions with police regarding an ongoing neighbour dispute.  The Review team found all complaints were handled to a reasonable standard by Police Scotland, but identified one learning point.
